Jamie Gill F.B.D.O

Director and Dispensing Optician

Jamie started working in Paul Gill Opticians in 2003 working alongside the lab technician at the time. Jamie quickly took to glazing and attended a technician course in Keel University in the UK with the Worshipful of Spectacle Makers. Jamie began dispensing under the supervision of Paul until he decided to gain his qualification of Dispensing Optician in 2013. From 2013 Jamie managed the practice choosing stock and maintaining the quality of service which Gill Opticians has been renowned for. Jamie renovated the practice adding a reception area and new brands area in 2017 showing his inherited eye for interior design.

In 2017 Paul Gill retired after 40 years trading in 2 St Patricks Road. Jamie, Paul’s eldest son has decided to take on the family business and formed the company Gill Opticians Ltd. With new branding, a new look and an increased emphasis on customer service Jamie is striving to ever improve on his father Paul’s legacy and create his own.

Jamie has a love for the sea and has found a passion in kitesurfing. When Jamie is not working he likes to take off to the West of Ireland in his campervan.

Anna Fingleton F.A.O.I

Optometrist and expert in myopia control

Anna qualified as an optometrist from D.I.T Kevin Street, with an honors degree. She has worked in various independent optical practices and has gathered experience in all fields of optics. In 2018 Anna completed further education in the area of myopia control with children; this aims to help reduce the progression and advancement of myopia. Anna has already built up a following in Dalkey which is only rivaled by Bono.
Hobbies include music, reading, sea swimming and any kind of adventurous activity.

Caoimhe Carr F.A.O.I

Optometrist with 8+ years’ experience in top independent opticians.

Caoimhe joined Gill Opticians in 2021 and has been an amazing addition to the Gills team.

Caoimhe studied in D.I.T Kevin Street finishing top of her class. She joined a multiple but quickly decided that independent opticians was her calling. Her strengths are that she is very personable while clinical and professional, the perfect attributes to make an outstanding optometrist.

When Caoimhe is not working she is a passionate fan of Formula 1 and travelling.

Mary Kennedy

Optical Assistant for 19+ years.

Mary has been a part of Gill Opticians since 2000. As the longest member of staff Mary has a huge following in the practice. Mary is a bubbly character and has a huge knowledge of all aspects of the practice making her the perfect fit for the dispensing floor. In 2018 Mary completed a Colour Me Beautiful course adding to her talent for choosing the right frame for a clients face.

Passion and Hobbies: Mary is obsessed with fashion, colour coordination and style trends. She is a keen gardener and has an eye for interior design. Mary’s real passion is holidays and if she had not come to work in Gill Opticians in 2000 she would surely have founded trailfinders.

Scott Connor

Optical Technician 

Scott joined the team in 2015 from a background in skilled craftsmanship. From building houses to building bikes Scott has done it all. When a position opened up in our glazing lab Scott was the first person who popped into Jamie’s mind. Within a couple of months Scott had already demonstrated his incredible ability and has since become one of Ireland’s most talented technicians. Jamie and Scott went to primary and secondary school together and have been best friends throughout and it has been a pleasure working with him since he started in his current role.

Passion and Hobbies: Scott is big into his music and attends festivals and gigs frequently. Scott seeks his thrills through extreme sports such as bungee jumping, skydiving and has recently been researching wing-walking… (good luck)

Mark Cavanagh

Optical Assistant 5+ years

Mark started his optical career in Dublin City in 2015. In 2022 Mark joined Gill Opticians after completing his degree in photography. Having an eye for design and an obsession for eyewear and fashion Mark is a natural fit for Gill Opticians. Mark brings youth and experience beyond his years to the practice. When Mark is not dispensing glasses he is busy playing his cello in the Dublin Orchestral Players. In his other spare time Mark and can be seen setting up the perfect shot in idyllic Dublin locations and photographing models in fashion shoots.

Emma Jayne Murphy

Optical Assistant

Emma Jayne Murphy joined the Gill Opticians Team in 2023 and has immediately become a treasured asset to the practice. E.J’s style and organisational skills have brought Gill Opticians up another level since her arrival.

E.J brings a wide range of skills to the team, from her excellence in customer care to her keen eye for fashion.

When not working Emma Jayne is a gym bunny and a keen sea swimmer, no matter what the season.
